Academic Honor Societies
National Honor Society: Junior and Senior students are selected on the basis of grade point average (3.7 and above), faculty ratings, student essay, and student candidate form. Members reflect outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, and service. NHS students provide service as tutors, guides at school functions, and service to others in the Darien Community. Mu Alpha Theta: The Math Honor Society aims to engender keener interest in mathematics and to develop sound scholarship in the subject while promoting enjoyment of mathematics. Members (selected through an application process) offer tutoring in math and participate in weekly math challenge problems. Advisor: Matt Buchta (mbuchta@darienps.org)
Science National Honor Society: Science National Honor Society promotes science literacy in the local community. We participate in an annual Science Day and assist in the Science symposium. Membership is by application. Advisor: Fred Vital (fvital@darienps.org)
Modern Music Masters (Tri-M): Tri-M is a national honorary music society dedicated to improving solo and small group performance. Membership is by invitation. Advisor: Jane Minnis (jminnis@darienps.org)

World Language Honor Societies: Our four honor societies recognize our students' academic achievements in the study of French, Latin, Mandarin, and Spanish. The societies and their members promote an understanding and appreciation of the cultures and peoples that speak those languages, and demonstrate an academic commitment to studying those languages further.
