Parking/Parent Dropoff & Pickup

DHS Families,

DHS would like to partner with all of you to renew our commitment to keeping everyone safe on our campus streets and in our parking lots. There are a number of incidents each year which, fortunately, have not led to injuries. That said, we feel this warrants a focus on campus safety for the benefit of our students, parents, and staff.

Our campus monitors, with the help of the Darien Police Department, will remind all drivers on campus of the following:

-Please follow the speed limit of 10 MPH.
-Please stay in your lane and do not pass cars that are dropping off students.
-Please continue through to the end of the loop (Main or Athletic) after dropping
off your student(s). Please do not use an open parking space to turn around.
-Please refrain from making a right turn into the auditorium/student parking area as there is not adequate space to turn around safely.

Students may be dropped off at the:

-Main Entrance in the Main Loop (and continue around the Main Loop)
-Athletic Entrance in Athletic Loop (and continue around the Athletic Loop)
-Please do not idle in a student or faculty parking spot as spaces are limited.
-Please do not use cell phones while driving on campus.
-Please do not use the Church as a pick up or drop-off area. This is Private Property and we want to maintain the great working relationship that we have with UMC.

We know that refocused attention to the items above will help traffic move more smoothly in the morning and keep our students, parents, and faculty safe on campus.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us.

Sincerely,

Leon Krolikowski, Director of Security for DPS
